The Nikkei – Japan’s version of the Wall Street Journal – is reporting that the next iteration of the Nintendo DS will have both a camera and music playback capability. Along with those two new features, it’s also reportedly getting a boost in wireless capability. Word is the camera will be used like the PSEye is used and will probably involve taking pictures of oneself while superimposing it on Mario’s shoulders a character of some sort.
The DS rumor mill is rampant with speculation of a dual-touchscreen DS, which some sources expect to see early to middle next year. I don’t think we’ll see two iterations of the DS in under a year, so the faithful will likely have to wait another day to smudge both screens with their fingers.
The new DS will reportedly sell in Japan first before launching stateside. It’ll start selling at 20,000 yen, or $190. The current DS sells for 16,800 yen, or $158 in Japan. But can it Twitter?
